Vintage Pattern MaCall’s #2720 

late 60s-early70’s Maxi Skirt

who doesn't love that floating and super romantic maxi skirt from 60s?
that's reason enough for me to make this skirt!

自從去年夏天

開始出現好多不同類型的紗質衣服

布店當然也不例外

因爲最近非常想嚐試60年晚期-70年代的長裙

尤其是有波浪下擺的飄逸擺動感  所以在網路布店買了烏干紗來製作

烏干紗的飄飄擺動有時比起紗裙更帶有空氣感

Vintage MaCall’s Pattern 2720

這次的古董版型

fuchsia organza black velvet polka dots fabric from Etsy
fuchsia lining fabric from Joann's

這次的布料
粉色底黑色點點烏干紗

 elastic from Amazon

在網站買了兩色的伸縮帶

在一陣搭來搭去後 XD 

決定用綠色和金色相間的來搭配

to re-make this skirt pattern
I put 3 panels of skirt pieces together as one piece
then cut out 3 re-made pieces and sewed them together

裙子的原版版型

需要裁四片-六片布料製作

為了增加澎度效果

我自己將三片版型加成一片大半圓形

再從新將版型描在轉印紙上

 transferred the pattern onto the transfer paper

接下來就是裁布

裁布的步驟我忘記拍照了 呵呵

裁完布後 將從新製作的裙子版型縫在一起

然後開始將裙子下擺的版型
用gathering stitch做成波浪狀

接下來就是永無止盡的用大頭針固定在之前車好的裙子下擺

這個步驟頭很酸

請記得做抬頭休息及伸展 呵呵

after sewing the skirt pieces together
I gathered stitches on bottom pieces and pinned them on to the skirt

用大頭針固定好後

再將之車縫在裙子上

接下來就可以將下擺做收尾

我的裁縫機可以換壓腳

尤其像是烏干紗這種輕量布料 在沒有滾邊機器的情況下

收邊的壓腳是很好的選擇

I used narrow foot to finish the bottom edge of seam line

用收邊壓腳車好的邊

再將裙子和伸縮帶縫合

sew the lining with skirt together and sew the elastic on to the skirt

and I have my new maxi skirt!

我的飄飄長裙完成啦! 開心!!

內裡的部分比較簡單

所以在此就不多加介紹了

這條裙子花了我兩個星期才完成

因為版型的更新修改 伸縮帶顏色的選擇

及製作薄料烏干紗過程中的小心翼翼

如果你也想嘗試看看  阿明會建議在製作過程上要多些耐心

Tradional Taiwan Artist/Seamstress - Amy 酒香不怕巷子深 ~ 造訪巷弄中的人間織娘 - 阿梅

我從來沒有見過阿梅

一直到在回美國的前一天  

阿梅打電話來請我去工作室試身型 

那是我第一次見到阿梅

In Taiwan
very few seamstresses have been trying to keep tradition as the way they were

At the same time
 adding some high light with their own personal touch and their creation is the new key of a modern way

 I was very lucky to meet one of them on my trip back to Taiwan

傍晚

低調妹騎著歐多拜戴我

我們穿梭在許多小巷弄中

在一處甚是古樸的屋子前停下 

裡間

藏著阿梅的小工作室

對阿梅的初次印象

就如同工作室裡的擺設

簡單 中溫 質樸

when I walked into Amy's little studio
I felt instant warmth with the welcome I received 

Amy's studio was just like those old houses you see at the country side of southern Taiwan -
kind, warm and full of humility

這次有機會和阿梅見面
也是因為生活中裡的一段緣

在姪女的學習成長過程中

已經有過二次

學校的功課是請孩子們"介紹自己父母的生長地"

而今年是第三次了

我家低調姊還特地向借了我的舊旗袍給姪女穿上台

雖然姪女是土生土長的美國人

但透過姪女對台灣文化生動又有趣的介紹

老師那天給了她超過滿分的分數!

 

我當時為此思考了一陣..

台灣如果有國服 應該會是什麼樣子的呢?

我想起了原住民禮服上的圖騰

他們嵌在衣服上的鉚釘及精緻刺繡

他們莊重 但不抵骨子裡熱情的華麗頭飾

雖然我不是原住民
但因為以往工作的關係 認識了一些原住民同事
所以我一向非常尊重原民文化

我希望往後
如果姪女要是再有機會介紹台灣

可以穿著帶點"台灣味"的相關服飾來介紹台灣

記得以前的同事們告訴過我

對於原住民服飾的穿著  

平地人應該要多讀一些相關史料

並給予一定的尊重再穿它們

 基於對原民文化的尊重
深怕自己將服飾 帽飾穿錯 綁腿綁錯 情人袋還背錯
及等等可能發生的糗態....

以前一起工作的幾位同事又因為搬家已經失聯 

我也無從問起

於是請阿梅做衣服 漸漸在我的腦海裡成形

透過阿梅的臉書

我看到許多原住民朋友會和她訂製衣服

阿梅精挑細選後的古著訂製衣
 儼然成為我的首選

帶點原住民服飾的原素
且有時貌似美濃客家牡丹古布的樣式點綴

一經阿梅的巧手
它們成了獨一無二的新風貌台灣味服飾

阿梅的作品
簇新簇亮並純真且不失其樸實

Amy's creation combines traditional aboriginal style
with some of her own "modern vintage style" touch

she hunts vintage fabric from all around the world

under her stitching
many old fabrics are brought back to life again

many of the Taiwan tribal girls were wearing her clothes at the event
you can see the happiness on girl's faces when you visit Taiwan someday

as a creator and dressmaker
 Amy knows working with traditional print, you are also working with the history
that says
both modern and traditional has to be combined very carefully
and Amy has studied very hard at sewing and embroidery in her life...

在與阿梅數次的"空中"對談中

我們聊到花色配色並拼接部分  時間需要多久
哪一些作品其實是要等更久的時間
才能找到適當的老布等等...

談論後的結果  

我當時決定全權交由阿梅主張

因為我相信專業

並有著本人粗淺對藝術的基本認知 - 尊重藝術和創作者

在美國期間
時不時地與阿梅線上溝通
並約莫一個多月後
我回到了台灣

並且在阿梅的好心提醒下  我到了工作室試身型
那也是我第一次見到阿梅
當時阿梅還很熱情地請我試了她建議的素色作品

此照片經過阿梅本人同意借照  未經同意  請勿任意下戴

雖然最後因為姪女膚色的考量
我選了另一個配色
但是我必須說阿梅的建議真的是很獨到
因為素色調與我當初選擇的橘色調比起來
阿明很適合素色調的作品

( 而且我是三八明捏! 說不定有一天趴踢我也會穿~ 哈哈! )
( 已經在為自己打算中.... )

回到美國  經過數月後
我收到了低調妹寄給我的過鹹水包裹

我知道這個包裹裡 有著我思思念念 獨一無二
阿梅親手為我做的美麗作品

而"她"對於我來說

不僅僅是服飾

而是一件收藏品及藝術品

 

I feel lucky and very fortunate to have had a chance to wear Amy's handmade dress
when wearing this dress
 it reminds me that tradition is part of my Taiwan heart

我沒有頭飾來搭
所以當天的髮型以"隨興"風來搭

我想 一件好的藝術品
無論如何搭法 它都會是好看的

我相信

任何一塊布料

都可以成為一件衣服

但是要讓衣服有靈魂 不僅是穿的人

絕大部分

需要紡織者心思縝密裡的巧思 

才能賦予出匠心靈魂深處的藝術品

尊重一位設計者

等同於尊重自己 如何在自身靈魂中的自重

特別是給予這些在小小工作室裡

埋頭耕耘的台灣藝術創作者
尊重
是必須的

 

阿梅說

"有許多老布 是需要等待的..."

訪談間
雖然阿梅的話不多

我心裡想著

"任憑弱水三千 我只取一瓢飲"

大概可以說

是我對於阿梅這位創作者
之於取材於布料的慎密及對歷史文化尊重的認識

而她對這項藝術努力不懈的執著
至今仍令我印象深刻及難忘

it contains culture, history and seamstress' beautiful heart
