Vintage Parade Magazine 119 Dress Pattern

 opened the "time envelope"
and imagined some days back to the 1950's
a lady ordered a dress pattern from the Parade Magazine company
for some reason
she never got time to make the dress
and after 65 years 
a dreamer who adored vintage clothes and is crazy about sewing
picked up this pattern from a vintage shop online
just like time bottle
every stitch is a touching moment

想像1950年的某一天
某一個女士跟 Parade Magazine 訂了洋裝版型
 也許是時間的不允許
或種種因素
她沒有再開過信封
保留的完整信封包裝
像是埋藏在土裡的瓶中信
在2015的某天
我買了這位女士當時未開封的包裝
完成了她當時想像中的洋裝
 這中間的緣分 
不僅是人與人短暫的擦身而過...

according to the seller
the pattern is Marilyn Monroe dress inspired
and has a shelf ruched bust design

這次製作的洋裝版型
和第一次做的有些類似
不同的是
這次是真正的1950古董洋裝版型
我在 Etsy.com 和賣古董版型的賣家買下這個版型
賣家說這是瑪麗蓮夢露的 style 喔~ 呵~

賣家還保留了當時的雜誌廣告

I love the vintage description
they are not only easy to understand
they also print the words larger and are convenient for a sewer to read

我特別喜歡以前的版型製作說明
不但說明簡單清楚 印刷的字體也比現在的大

the pattern also contains a bolero and a belt pattern

版型共包括了
洋裝  小外套  腰帶
三樣

I traced this vintage pattern on tracing paper
and made with muslin to adjust the size

 因為喜歡可以平常就穿出門 不要太正式的洋裝
所以我沒有製作小外套
腰帶也用自己原本有的粉色皮帶來代替

這個古董版型
因為當時是配合個人尺寸所需製作的版型
胸圍的地方 對我來說有點大
除了尺寸要自己做調整  muslin 也是必須的

I picked up this super cute fabric from Hobby Lobby
 it has lots of cute nursery rhymes characters on it
they are
Jack And Jill, Humpty Dumpty, Little Jack Horner, 
Four And Twenty Black Birds, Mother Goose,
Little Bo-peep, Three Blind Mice,
Ring Around The Rosy, Baa Baa Black Sheep,
Hey Diddle Diddle
and Little Miss Muffet

 這次選的是可愛的童謠綿布
裡面有許多童謠的主角

I'm in love with this dress pattern
it looks similar in style to the last one I made
but if you are a vintage dress lover
you can definitely tell this is a vintage dress pattern
not a modern remade commercial pattern

如果你也是復古洋裝的愛好者
那你一定可以察覺到這個版型 是真正早期年代製作洋裝的版型
和上一次的洋裝版型完全不同

it's coming in very handy especially when doing the zipper and collar

wonder tape 是我最近發現的好用裁縫小物 
特別適用在領口和拉鍊部分
或是一些難縫的轉接處
台灣應該有賣 是可水洗的布料雙面膠帶
可以取代大頭針

I have been eyeing the Vendula London Shop Bag for quite a while
but when I received this bag 
the zipper was not what I was expecting 
sadly...I had to sent it back

我很喜歡 Vendula London 的包包
不僅可愛 特別 又很搭我平常的穿搭
但是因為拉鍊部分和我想像中的有所差別  
所以只好把它退還

 style with the pearl clutch 
 it is handmade by my Mom ~ Lots Of Love

媽媽年輕時自己手工做的復古珍珠包
在時空交錯下
和這件洋裝譜出巧妙的樂章

我特別喜歡洋裝腰間的"公主線設計"
這是在美國1950年代很常見的洋裝設計
( 我不知道台灣怎麼稱呼這個設計 )

改造NG二手包+洋裝搭配小創意 Poshmark Purchase Make Over

美國Poshmark網站
 類似台灣的 yahoo拍賣

你可以在網站上賣東西

也可以買別人的二手衣物和用品

身經百戰的阿明
 自認為網站買買達人

上個月 竟然還是買到了NG商品

I purchase a second hand bag from Poshmark last month, and when I received it I really couldn't believe my eyes

阿明平常也很少在poshmark買東西
所以竟忘了問賣家許多細節

但我當初同意買的是"二手包" 並不是"缺陷包"
而這些"缺陷"
都是賣家在交易中沒有提到的

I knew it was a second handbag when I bought it from the seller but I wasn't expecting it to be a totally "dirty beat up bag"
 
well 竟然都已經買了
還好不是很貴的東西
要退還的話 自付郵資後也不划算
所以我決定好好的來改造它

glad that I only paid about $26 dollars for it and also it's really not worth it to return the bag, so I decided to save this bag and do a handbag make over

花了$26美金買的這個格紋包
收到之後的當下 也不管會不會壞掉
我二話不說地把整個包丟進洗衣機裡洗
這樣你就知道有多髒了 = =... 

FIRST! 
I threw this bag into the wash machine ( yea..I know you are not supposed to do that but this beat up bag left me no choice ) 
  

不僅包包上有許多灰塵
包包的表面還有許多脫皮的狀況

as you can see the pictures below, even the handle covers are damaged and lots of areas are also damaged and starting to peal off

包身起了許多毛球
還有刮傷

pilling and scratches on the surface

 
還好洗完後的狀態還算乾淨

灰塵的狀況一定要先解決才行

after washing, this bag is starting to look "better"?
well~ at least it looks clean

  
接下來
就是改造的部分

for the rusty hardware part, instead to buying a golden color, I bought a black nail polish and painted it on the hardware of the bag just to make it look more "vintage-ish"

生鏽的五金
我買了便宜的指甲油
將指甲油小心的塗在五金上

我用了黑色指甲油取代金色
為的是讓包包更有復古的感覺

 
在花邊上的五金
我也將它們全部小心的塗上

再來
就是小心的用剪刀剪下快爛掉的品牌繡字部分
剪的時候要很小心
不要剪到內裡

I removed the label careful not to cut the interfacing  

繡字的地方沒有辦法剪
不過有剪下邊緣就好

利用tracing paper畫下樣式
再用不織布剪下

using tracing paper, I drew the label pattern and cut the felt off

利用膠槍將布周圍黏上繡花邊

next, I took decorative lace trim and used glue gun to glue around the edge

 
提把邊邊脫皮的部分
用膠槍把裝飾細帶小心的黏在邊緣

using basic decorative trim, glue around the handle holder to protect the pealing area

 
手把提袋也黏上裝飾蕾絲

glue the decorative lace trim on the damaged bag handle

放上蕾絲 胸針等裝飾

all I need to do now is to just to be creative

 
包包改造大功告成!

TaDa!!

與其拿有五金的正面提把 改造過後
我現在喜歡拿背面有裝飾蕾絲的提把

 and the handle can be as versatile as I wish

雖然花了許多時間改造這個包包
不過結果是令人欣慰的 呵呵~

the matching top on the Unique Vintage website was about $50, and it was too much for my budget, I was glad I found my matching top from Forever21 only for $15

這件格紋裙我在買的時候
網站上有提供搭配上衣
因為一件要$50美金 我覺得價錢太貴
所以我在Forever21找到了一件可以搭的格紋衣
約$15美金
不過衣身太短
所以我把下面的車線拆開

the top was a bit short, so I ripped the seam of the hem and made the hem narrower, then sewn back on

 
再把下面縫合 整整多了3吋多的長度

now I've got 3 more inches of fabric on the bottom part so I can tuck into my skirt when I wear it

這樣搭裙子不僅好搭多了
也省下了許多錢 

always thinking about how to save my pocket when comes to the fashion

 
裙子的部分
因為我太喜歡這件裙子
但是網站上已經沒有我的尺寸
所以我買了大一號
將兩邊的布料折起 縫緊 就變成了我的size囉~呵呵

the gingham skirt was actually too big for me, so I folded the fabric on the waist line of my waist size and sewed them together

 
平常我會拆開縫
但是因為裙子料子很薄 可以直接折起來縫

這件洋裝已經買超過4年了
最近覺得兩邊的蝴蝶結
對我的年紀來說太可愛了 ( 羞...)
所以我把洋裝肩帶的蝴蝶結剪下來

recently, the bow-knot on the both sides of this dress makes me feel a bit "too cute"
 ( even my niece told me there's not such thing call "too cute" ) 

so I cut off each bow on the both sides

把它別在改造的包包上

and took one of the bows and pinned it on the bag

 
另一種新Look

再分一個給我的小兔~呵呵

雖然這次在Poshmark遇到不誠信的賣家
但是還是有好賣家存在的
像是這件全新的Bernie Dexter Paris Dress
也是在Poshmark買的
全新並半價 
對小氣買買人來說
遇見Bernie Dexter dress這樣的價錢
真是可遇不可求阿~~~




not all of my purchases from the Poshmark are all bad, 
I did once get lucky and got this "NEW" Bernie Dexter Paris dress from a very good seller at half price on Poshmark

別上一朵大蕾絲球胸針

 I pinned a lace pom pom on the bag just to match my Paris dress

 
變身浪漫法國風~

開心捏~~!
灑花吧~~~~~~~~
一整個人陷在旋轉馬車的幻象裡~~ 哈哈

 I'm glad I finally finished this handbag make over project! 
now I can be satisfied and enjoy the results!
